Tired Of It

Max Moskowitz was getting tired of it. He tended his brother's filling station on Route 25, Elizabeth, N. J., and all he asked was to be let alone to tend it. But twice bandits had robbed the station. The nervous strain of being held up, then questioned by police and insurance companies, got to be too much for Max. One night last week, when a car stopped outside, two youths walked in and snarled: "This is a stick-up," Max simply sat down on a chair.

"Better give us your money," croaked one of the youths, pointing a gun.

"Get out," said Max.

"Give me the money or I'll shoot."

"Go ahead and shoot," growled Max.

The bandits stared at him, stared at each other, fled.

Arrested next day on suspicion, John Serido, Anthony Buccolo and Doyle Gaza-way, who had driven the car, admitted a series of holdups in central and northern New Jersey, and the Moskowitz attempt. Said they of Max: "The guy was just too tough for us."
